Unique Latching Mechanism

Rather than a cumbersome panic bar and pressure point latching system, the TOTAL DOOR® latch spans the entire height of the closing surface. It cocks at an angle (see at left) when opened and snaps shut over the full-length latch stop when closed. This ensures a better seal against air and noise, quieter latching, and longer life.
It eliminates troublesome vertical rods and protruding hardware; in fact, the panic bars are available with just 1/8” projecting from the surface of the door when open (see at right), providing unhindered egress in emergencies and no bumps or bruises during daily operation.

FRP (Fiber Reinforced Poly) door faces, while not suitable for fire doors, resist scratches and dents, are easy to clean, and never need painting. The inert surfaces are also rustproof and highly resistant to sidewalk salts, acids, and airborne chemicals. Because the pigment permeates the full thickness of the door face and is specially treated with ultraviolet inhibitors, FRP door faces will not fade or peel. Repeated use of industrial cleaners, disinfectants, and even paint removers will not harm the surface, so graffiti materials such as spray paint, marker pens, and inks can be removed without damage.

The continuous locking channel has an I-beam shape that securely locks the door along its full height. It acts as a 5/8” deadbolt the full length of the door. It cocks at an angle when open and snaps shut over the full-length latch stop when closed. It provides exceptional security on single doors and eliminates vertical rods, floor hardware, coordinators, astragals and flush bolts on pairs and double egress fire doors.

The continuous semi-concealed hinge fits easily into any existing frame or to any flat surface without any projecting knuckles. 3-hour rated pairs can be installed in standard rabbetted or cased frames. The hinge eliminates the need for triple step frames on double egress applications. You can even retrofit a Total Door double egress into a standard pair frame. Our exclusive dual pivot point semi-wide throw hinge allows the door to open a full 180 degrees and gives greater clearance width.

The locking channel and hinge require no templating and uniformly distribute loads to the door and frame, increasing the strength, durability and abuse resistance of the door and frame. Our doors have tested to more than 10 million duty cycles compared to 100,000 to 1,500,000 for the typical hinged door.
